Is Uneven Concrete Creating a Safety Problem at Your Restaurant?

Your restaurant needs to feel safe before a customer ever walks through the door. If the sidewalk, entryway, patio, drive-thru, loading area, or parking lot concrete is sinking or uneven, it can create trip hazards, water pooling, and a poor first impression.

The Concrete Team provides restaurant concrete lifting, mudjacking, slabjacking, and concrete leveling services throughout Upstate New York. We help restaurant owners, property managers, and facility teams repair settled concrete without the cost and disruption of full replacement whenever possible.

Whether the problem is near the front entrance, outdoor seating area, service door, dumpster pad, or customer walkway, we can take a look and recommend only the work that makes sense.

Why Restaurant Concrete Sinks

Restaurant concrete takes a lot of daily use. Customers, employees, deliveries, carts, grease bins, vehicles, snow, salt, and water can all add stress to concrete surfaces.

Concrete around restaurants can sink because of:

  • Poor soil compaction under the slab
  • Water washing away soil below the concrete
  • Freeze-thaw cycles during Upstate New York winters
  • Heavy delivery traffic near service areas
  • Drainage problems near sidewalks or patios
  • Voids forming under concrete slabs
  • Soil settlement around newer construction or utility work
  • Salt and water damage around high-traffic areas

Once the soil under the concrete weakens, the slab can drop, tilt, crack, or pull away from nearby concrete.

Restaurant concrete problems often connect to other areas of the property. If your issue is near customer parking, you may also want to review our parking lot concrete repair page. If the problem is near a customer entrance or public walkway, our walkway and sidewalk leveling service may also apply. For interior issues, visit our interior floor leveling page.

I cannot recommend Jim Denney and The Concrete Team highly enough! I’ve known Jim for many years, and as a Realtor, I’ve confidently referred him to my clients and I know he will exceeded expectations. Jim’s knowledge, experience, and workmanship are truly second to none. The quality of his work is exceptional, but what really sets him apart is the way he treats people. Home repairs, especially foundation or concrete issues can be overwhelming and emotional for homeowners. Jim has a remarkable ability to communicate clearly, explain complex issues in a way that’s easy to understand, and put people at ease. He never pressures anyone and always takes the time to help homeowners feel informed and confident about their decisions. Jim and his partner, Mike, are also two of the most honest, ethical people you’ll ever meet. Their integrity is unwavering, and they genuinely care about doing what’s right for their clients, not just getting the job done. In an industry where trust means everything, The Concrete Team stands in a class of its own. I give them my absolute highest recommendation and will continue referring them with complete confidence. They are simply the best.

Three years ago, I contacted The Concrete Team about some settling issues with my stamped concrete pool patio that had created a trip hazard in several high-traffic areas. They came out, evaluated the problem, and provided an estimate, but I never moved forward with the work at that time. After this past winter, the settling became noticeably worse. With a graduation party approaching, I wanted to get the issue fixed before guests arrived and risked tripping or falling. I called The Concrete Team expecting the price to have increased after three years, but to my surprise, they honored the original estimate and were able to fit me into their schedule on short notice. Their crew did an outstanding job. They were professional, efficient, and restored the patio for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. The finished product looks great, and most importantly, the trip hazards are gone. As a real estate agent, I’m always looking for trustworthy contractors to recommend to my clients, and The Concrete Team has absolutely earned my recommendation. If you have settled or uneven concrete, don’t wait—give them a call. You’ll be glad you did.

I had a fantastic experience with the concrete team! They did an amazing job mud jacking my front walkway. The pricing was very reasonable, they showed up on time, and the work was completed quickly and efficiently. The whole process was smooth from start to finish, and the results came out great. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work at a fair price!"

Jim and Mike did an absolutely outstanding job on our front sidewalk and the garage floor entrance. They had to drill holes in our front sidewalk and then pressure install concrete underneath to raise them back up to the correct level. Not an easy task. But this was done exceptionally well. Then they applied an epoxy surfacer to even out all the salt erosion that had been happening. After this a sand surfacing was applied to the epoxy [white] to give the sidewalk the proper appearance - now tan. A truly exceptional job. Pete and Susie, Cohoes, NY

Signs Your Restaurant Concrete May Need Leveling

Small concrete problems can become bigger safety concerns if they are ignored. A raised edge or sunken slab may not seem serious at first, but customers and employees walk these areas every day.

Your restaurant may need concrete leveling if you notice:

    • Uneven concrete near the front entrance
    • Trip hazards on customer sidewalks
    • Sinking slabs around outdoor dining areas
    • Water pooling near doors, patios, or walkways
    • Cracks forming around settled concrete
    • Concrete pulling away from steps or ramps
    • Uneven drive-thru or pickup lane concrete
    • Low spots near dumpster pads or delivery areas
    • Rocking or hollow-sounding slabs
    • Slabs that no longer meet ADA-friendly access needs
    • Poor drainage near high-traffic customer areas

If the concrete is also cracked, our concrete crack repair service may help after the slab is lifted and stable.

    Our Restaurant Concrete Lifting Process

The Concrete Team specializes in mudjacking, also called slabjacking. That gives us more than one way to raise and stabilize settled
concrete. We recommend the method that makes the most sense for your restaurant, your schedule, and the condition of the slab.

Top Concrete Leveling Contractor Near Me

Step 1: Evaluate the Concrete Problem

We inspect the sinking or uneven concrete, look at the surrounding area, and check for drainage, voids, cracks, and access issues. We also consider customer traffic, employee access, and business hours.

Step 2: Lift and Stabilize the Slab

We raise the concrete using mudjacking, also called slabjacking. This process uses a grout-like material to fill voids under the slab, support the concrete, and lift settled areas back toward the surrounding surface.

Step 3: Patch, Clean Up, and Review the Area

After the concrete is lifted, we patch the drilled holes and clean the work area. We can also discuss related repairs, such as joint sealing, crack repair, or drainage concerns.

You can learn more about how lifting works on our concrete leveling process page.

    Restaurant Concrete Lifting FAQs

Can you level concrete at a restaurant without shutting down the business?

In many cases, yes. The schedule depends on the location of the concrete problem, the size of the repair, and the lifting method used. The Concrete Team can review the area and discuss options that reduce disruption. For larger commercial work, we may also be able to schedule around business needs. You can start by reaching out through our contact page.

We can evaluate concrete near entrances, sidewalks, patios, outdoor dining areas, service doors, dumpster pads, delivery zones, drive-thru lanes, and parking lot areas. If the issue is tied to customer parking, visit our parking lots page.
Yes, if the water pooling is caused by settled or uneven concrete, lifting may help improve the slope. If drainage is still a problem after lifting, other fixes may also be needed. For cracked or open joints where water enters, joint sealing and caulking may help protect the area.
Yes, many restaurant patios can be lifted if the concrete is still in good enough condition. If the patio surface is also worn, chipped, or spalling, concrete resurfacing may be worth reviewing after the slab is stable.
Concrete lifting is often a good option when the slab has settled but is still mostly intact. If the concrete is badly broken, crumbling, or severely deteriorated, replacement may be the better choice. We can evaluate the area and only recommend work that makes sense.
